Is it Time for a Course Correct?

Ever been lost? Ever felt off course and wondered how the heck did I get here? Is your internal GPS telling you to make the next legal u turn? Not again!

Is it time to re-calibrate; to reset your internal compass? Not too long ago I had gone so far off course that I was lost. I lived in fear and stress never knowing what would happen next. It was awful, and as much as I wish it wasn’t so, at times, I was awful too. I remember my inner voice being resentful, negative, and darn right grouchy. At times I didn’t like me – let alone love me!

My internal compass was spinning continuously, pulling me in opposite directions.

One day it all changed. In all likelihood it had been changing for a while, but one day I remember waking up and realizing enough was enough. I had been seeking approval to live my own life – my best life.  How crazy is that?

Internal Compass

I was finally ready to stand up and step into the life I dreamt of, desired, and longed for. It took work, knowledge, access, and commitment – but it changed. Doors opened and the more steps I took, the more things expanded.

Have you ever been there? You find yourself saying… I’ll do that soon, later, next month, next year? Have you ever felt that ache in your heart of knowing there is more, MUCH MORE!

Maybe you’re like I was once, and you’re tired of waiting and tired of hoping things will get better – secretly seeking permission, sometimes without even realizing it. Or perhaps it’s all about timing? You’re waiting for the right time in your life, career and business for you to be the priority too?

If it’s permission you seek, consider it granted; consider yourself approved for greatness!

How ludicrous it is that we seek permission to live our best life. We don’t need external approval or permission our internal compass, like our internal voice, is there within you to guide you even in the darkest of moments.

Seeking permission or approval from others is like going to a dry fountain and asking for water.

Dry well

Here are three simple steps and signs you are ready to stand up and step into your life:

1. Attitude Is One Sure Fire Telltale Sign:  Is your attitude one of gratitude and grace? Do you hear of exciting things that have happened for others and celebrate their joy without any reservation, or do you find yourself asking why not me?

Why not me is a scarcity mentality and does not allow for expansion and creation of your own BIG purpose and goals. If you catch yourself coming from a place of lack, it’s your time to stand up and step into your life.

2. Self-Development and Self-Mastery:  When we feel torn and stretched to the limit, the last thing we tend to do is invest in our own development – to take time to work on our lives and business. Instead we get caught up in the doing which means we are missing out on enjoying our own lives. Want to recharge your internal compass? Practice self-development and mastery.

3. Stand On Your Story Rather Than In It:  Often our past stories and traumas greatly impact what we do – even though we are long past the event itself. The story still drives the bus and the actions we take. At times we act as police officer. We deem actions, thoughts and even dreams as right and wrong. We tend to live by unspoken rules and values, telling ourselves what we should and shouldn’t do without even really checking in as to why we believe this! Your internal compass is driven directly by your story. So change your story – change your life.

The truth is that there has never been another you. YOU are original, and that is powerful! What if you start living and acting… as if you have the answers? IMAGINE that!

Change is uncomfortable, and at times generates conflict. Sometimes it can feel like a perfect storm, but take solace in knowing that all storms pass and the sunshine returns.

Do what you need to and recharge your internal compass. Stand up and step into your life!
